Following a long career in FE, Tony joined the Adult Learning Inspectorate (ALI) in 2001 as a full-time lead inspector. He became an Ofsted HMI in 2007, leaving in 2010 to set up the Centre for Creative Quality Improvement; a research think tank and consultancy: www.ccqi.org.uk. Tony managed the national Good Practice Database for both the ALI and Ofsted. He was a member of the Excellence Gateway operational board and a regular columnist for the talisman newspaper. He currently works with colleges and work-based providers and has a particular interest in self-assessment.
