David Smith

David has worked in the Further Education (FE) and skills system since the early 1980s and has extensive experience of teaching, managing and taking leadership roles FE and skills.   As a Co-Director of the Centre for Post-14 Education and Work, UCL Institute of Education, he managed a variety of research and development (R&D) projects and published research on the Area Based Reviews in London, Apprenticeship mediation and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in East London.  David has been engaged by national and regional R&D bodies focusing on support to providers and key stakeholders in FE and skills on post-14 curriculum, staff and organisational development.  Recent clients have included the Association of Colleges (AOC), the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) and the JPMorgan and Chase Foundation.

He is a Fellow of the Society for Education and Training (FSET) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).  He has also provided international consultancy support for learning providers building their Higher Education vocational curricula in Greece; Libya; Syria; and the Sultanate of Oman.  Further information can be found at David’s LinkedIn profile.
